Showcase into the administration: the temporary exhibition presents "Aachen Climate Neutral 2030"
Saving the world from Aachen? That may sound ambitious. But making an important contribution and safeguarding quality of life: that is feasible. The city of Aachen is pursuing an active and precautionary climate protection strategy. How do we meet the challenges of climate change? What measures are planned for the path to a climate-neutral city and what are we doing to make the city center fit for the future? These and other questions will now be answered at the Citizens' Meeting Point in the OecherLab, Kapuzinergraben 19D, in the new "Showcase into Administration". Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, city employees are available to answer questions from 3 to 5 pm.
The showcase is thus thematically linked to the future space "Aachen Climate Neutral 2030 - but how?", which Thomas Hissel, Alderman for Housing, Social Affairs and Economy, Dhenya Schwarz, Head of the Oecher Lab, and Dr. Carin Jansen, Head of the Climate Neutral Aachen 2030 Office, officially opened on November 14. Until the end of March 2025, the new future space will provide information about Aachen's path to climate neutrality with a lively exhibition and a varied program, while also inviting discussion.
Aachen as a European model city
By participating in the EU's "100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities" mission, Aachen has become one of the model cities in Europe. The Climate City Agreement submitted to the EU in March of this year shows how the ambitious path to climate neutrality by 2030 can be achieved. It contains the voluntary commitment of the city administration and 134 other local stakeholders as well as a plan of measures and financing. There are now more than 145 signatories who are committed to the goal of climate neutrality by 2030 in the Climate City Agreement. At the beginning of October, the city of Aachen was awarded the EU Commission's Mission Label, recognizing the Aachen Climate City Agreement as a viable roadmap to climate neutrality. Interested parties can find out more about these and other milestones in the current exhibition "Showcase in the Administration" at the Bürger*innentreff.
The "Shop window into administration" exhibition is open on Tuesdays from 2 to 4 pm and Wednesdays from 3 to 5 pm. Further opening hours and current events can be found at https://oecherlab.de/buergerinnentreff/. Information on climate protection in Aachen can be found at www.aachenklima.de.
