Kornelimünster: A bottleneck is being created on the Napoleonsberg
From January 7, 2025, a section of the Napoleonsberg road in Kornelimünster will only have one lane of traffic for up to six weeks. Motor vehicle traffic will be diverted past the bottleneck with the help of roadworks traffic lights.
The bottleneck is necessary because a private building project is to be implemented at house number 178. Before the actual construction work on the house begins, a listed retaining wall on the property will first be removed. The monument authority has approved the removal of the wall for the duration of the construction work. In a second step, the excavation pit will also be dug.
The construction site traffic lights are located at the junction to Korneliusmarkt and at the pedestrian bridge over the Inde opposite Napoleonsberg 188.
Motor vehicle traffic will be affected, especially during peak times in the morning and evening. The city asks all road users to avoid the Napoleonsberg to the greatest extent possible.
Once the retaining wall has been removed and the excavation pit dug, the construction of the new apartment building will begin. This construction work will take around 15 months. According to current plans, traffic on Napoleonsberg should only be slightly affected.
