Local elections 2025: District electoral committee decides on constituencies
At its meeting today, December 19, 2024, the district electoral committee unanimously decided to divide the municipal electoral area for the local elections into 33 electoral districts. The electoral office had previously proposed a redistricting from 29 to 33 municipal electoral districts and submitted it to the political groups.
The reorganization takes particular account of Section 4 (2) of the Local Elections Act. According to this, spatial relationships should be preserved as far as possible in the delimitation of electoral districts. Where city districts exist, the district division should be adhered to. The deviation from the average number of eligible voters in the electoral districts in the electoral area may not be more than 15 percent upwards or downwards. In justified exceptional cases, deviations of up to 25 percent are possible. Due to the legal requirements, some constituencies also had to be changed. Individual streets were transferred to other constituencies, regional constituencies were not changed.
