At its last meeting of the year (Tuesday, 10 December), the Sports Committee once again unanimously approved funding and grants.

Funding for special sporting events in 2025
A fixed amount of €1,500 has already been approved for special sporting events in Aachen for the coming year - provided the events take place and the corresponding budget funds are allocated. The following four events were selected:

• Aachener Skateboard Club e. V.: Skate contest
• Aachener Schwimmverein 06 e. V.: 45th International Water Polo Tournament 2025
• Aachen Hockey Club 1906 e. V.: Aachener-Streusel-Cup
• Boule d'Aix la Chapelle: International boules tournament

If events do not take place, "successors" have already been named.

Grant for the purchase of sports equipment
The Aachener Boots-Club e. V. can look forward to a "pre-Christmas present": the club will receive 2,500 euros to purchase its own club boat in the "PIRAT" boat class. As the purchase of a new boat exceeds the financial framework, a second-hand boat is to be purchased, which still costs around 20,000 euros according to an appraisal.

Grant from the Elisabethspitalfonds Foundation
The Blau-Weiss Aachen 1962 e. V. tennis club is receiving a one-off grant of 35,000 euros for the purchase of a second air dome. This is needed to maintain training operations in winter - particularly important for the children and young people in the club. All attempts to build a hall or develop other training facilities have failed in recent years. Now a second air dome is to be installed on the existing summer pitches. This will also allow the existing infrastructure of the club facilities to be used. The total cost of the hall is around 380,000 euros.
