"Showcase into the administration": new exhibition at the Bürger*innentreff
"The implementation of the "City center mobility for tomorrow" concept will bring important changes for citizens. The new traffic routing will make our city center safer for all Aachen residents and strengthen coexistence on our streets," Mayor Sibylle Keupen is convinced. The gradual implementation will begin in mid-August with the first steering point in Karlsgraben.
With the new exhibition in the third quarter of 2024, the administration invites all citizens to find out about the plans for inner-city mobility and to ask questions and make suggestions at the citizens' meeting point. Since July 23, an open consultation hour on "Inner-city mobility for tomorrow" has been held every second Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm.
"City center mobility for tomorrow"
The overall concept aims to ensure that the city center can be reached safely and conveniently by all means of transport. Its goals were formulated in the policy resolution of October 2023: The city center should be easily accessible and interaction in road traffic should be considerate and relaxed. People should be able to live healthily in the city center and enjoy being together. The focus is on a joint plan with measures for all modes of transportation. The aim is to encourage walking and improve the quality of life, make car traffic compatible with the city, enable safe cycling and improve public transport. Ultimately, the aim is to be more considerate of one another, network mobility options and make urban transport climate-neutral.

"Schaufenster in die Verwaltung" exhibition
Since spring 2024, the "Schaufenster in die Verwaltung" exhibition has offered the opportunity to find out about changing administrative projects and talk to administrative staff during regular consultation hours. Anyone interested can take advantage of the offer on inner-city mobility until the end of September. An exhibition on climate is planned for the 4th quarter of 2024.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone who wants to come along, talk to us and take the next steps towards an even more liveable city center together with us," says the city center mobility team. The "Schaufenster in die Verwaltung" consultation hour also takes place on Wednesdays from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on the topic of "inner city mornings" at the Bürger*innentreff in the OecherLab, Kapuziner Karree at Kapuzinergraben 19.
