The City of Aachen is represented on the social media channels Instagram, Facebook, X, Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky, Youtube and LinkedIn. We cordially invite you to engage in dialog on the aforementioned platforms and welcome comments, questions, approval and criticism.
The content is posted, moderated, carefully checked and evaluated on the aforementioned channels by the Online Team of the City of Aachen's Communications and City Marketing Department. We can also be contacted at the email address onlineredaktion@mail.aachen.de.
We ask for your understanding that we cannot answer all comments immediately, as it may be necessary to coordinate with other departments of Aachen City Council.
We expressly distance ourselves from expressions of opinion that violate the free democratic basic order. As a public administration, we remain committed to neutrality and therefore delete calls for elections and disparagement of political actors or parties.
In order to enable a good exchange, the following rules must be observed by everyone on our profiles:
- Posts and comments from users refer to the original topic
- Irony and sarcasm should be avoided
- Opinions are always justified
- Quotations are provided with source references
- No links are used without context
- Contributions are written in German or English
The following are not permitted:
- Criminally relevant posts and comments (e.g. insults, defamation, slander, incitement to violence)
- Degradation and discrimination of persons or groups of persons based on their religion, ethnic origin, nationality, physical condition, sexual identity, age or gender
- Pornographic, obscene and youth-endangering statements and content
- Violations of personal rights and other rights of third parties
- Publication of copyrighted works (e.g. photos, videos, audio recordings, etc.) without copyright or right of use
- Publication of private data and private correspondence
- Dissemination of false information
- Spam, advertising and the constant repetition of the same content
- Links to websites without an imprint and links to pages with content relevant under criminal law
- Use of fake profiles
We reserve the right to delete posts at any time in the event of violations of the rules listed and, if necessary, to report them to the operators of the respective social media platform. We also block users who do not adhere to the above rules and repeatedly disrupt discussions. In exceptional cases, for example in the event of an accumulation of extremist comments, we reserve the right to deactivate the comment function.
By interacting on our social media channels, all users acknowledge these guidelines. Users are responsible for the content they publish. We reserve the right to adapt the netiquette at any time. In addition, the terms of use of the platforms apply.
