Philosophical Matinee: “Thinking Changes. Change Thinking.” New Perspectives for a Society in Transition
The climate crisis, social polarization, economic change, and artificial intelligence are not merely political or economic challenges. They also point to fundamental issues concerning how we live together and what it means to be human. In a lecture and discussion, philosopher Gert Scobel and political scientist Raphaela Kell will jointly explore the question of how we want to live, which patterns of thought and interpretation actually shape our society, and why these patterns are increasingly reaching their limits in the face of the challenges of our time —and whether concepts such as the Economy for the Common Good can open up new perspectives for sustainable social and economic development.
Gert Scobel is a philosopher, journalist, author, and honorary professor at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, as well as a longtime host and expert on science, ethics, digitalization, and social orientation.
Since 2012, the “Philosophical Matinee” has been bringing together social and philosophical perspectives under the motto “Philosophy Meets Politics.” The event series, in cooperation with Amnesty International, Eine Welt Forum Aachen, the Academy of the Diocese of Aachen, vhs Aachen, and LOGOI. The Institute for Philosophy and Discourse invites you to engage in a dialogue on key global issues—ranging from social and economic transformation and sustainability to migration, global poverty, and human rights.
The event is free of charge. Please register via the vhs Aachen website.
