Public Lecture: A New Beginning in the Rhineland Mining Region—Working Together to Shape a Sustainable Future
How can structural change in the Rhineland mining region be achieved in an innovative, socially responsible, and sustainable manner? This public lecture brings together perspectives from civil engineering, urban development, and municipal practice, and demonstrates how academia, cities, and society can work together to develop solutions for the future.
Prof. Dr. Jörg Laumann from Aachen University of Applied Sciences will present an innovative method for reinforcing existing bridges that can improve their load-bearing capacity and extend their service life. Prof. Dr. Agnes Förster from RWTH Aachen University will explore how citizens can actively shape the energy transition—for example, through community-based energy initiatives and municipal heat planning.
Look forward to exciting insights into current research projects, innovative approaches, and concrete examples from the region. Discover how research, municipal action, and civic engagement can work together to shape sustainable change in the Rhineland mining region!
