Public guided tour of the city archive
The City Archives is offering a public guided tour on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Interested residents can register now by calling 0241 432-4972 and/or emailing stadtarchiv@mail.aachen.de. Space is limited. As the “memory
of the city,” the City Archives preserve original documents spanning 1,000 years of history. The archive’s holdings currently span a total of about ten kilometers of shelf space, consisting of deeds, files, plans and maps, photographs, and other types of sources. The oldest document is a deed from 1018; the most recent is today’s daily newspaper.
