Jo Didderen & L’Equipe de Rêve
A “small big band” centered around double bassist Jo Didderen. This all-star ensemble, with roots in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, consists of musicians with impressive résumés, international experience, and a shared passion for jazz, groove, and improvisation. Under the name “Jo Didderen & L’Equipe de Rêve,” the band has released four albums over the past ten years. “Happy Jazz” for the heart, mind, and feet: danceable and a joy to listen to. Accessible, yet with depth. Real songs, yet full of improvisation. “L’Equipe” swings, twists, surprises, rocks, and comforts. Anything is possible; anything goes. “Toutes Directions” is the motto they follow. “Wherever we end up, it’s sure to be good vibes…!” In 2026, the band took the liberty of experimenting under the name “Equipe Lab”: entering the studio without a pre-set plan, creating a live atmosphere there, and listening to what emerges. The result is their latest double album, “Toutes Directions,” filled with jazz, Meters-style funk, a lullaby, South African rhythms, bird calls, blues, and soul!
The concert and tour history of the band’s individual musicians reads like a “Who’s Who.” They’ve performed alongside Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Toots Thielemans, Gregory Porter, Patti Austin, Belle Perez, Benjamin Herman, Rowwen Hèze, and Eric Vloeimans. A Grammy Award, the “Dutch Jazz Competition,” and the “Alfa Award” for Limburg’s best songwriter adorn the rehearsal room.
