EMW Step Challenge

Join the EMW Steps Challenge and help Aachen become the most active city in Europe. No matter where you are. This year, as part of European Mobility Week, the European Steps Challenge is taking place for the second time—a unique initiative that invites citizens across Europe to walk more to improve their well-being and their cities. The challenge is organized by EIT Urban Mobility in collaboration with Walk15, and Aachen is, of course, participating in this week-long step challenge. After all, Aachen residents are known for walking significantly more than people in other cities.

You can participate from September 16 to 22, 2026. Every step counts—whether you’re walking to work, exercising, or at the supermarket. We’re walking as part of a large virtual team to show that Aachen leads the way in walking—even in Europe.

That’s because the most active cities will be recognized at the end of European Mobility Week. Registration is already open, and participating is easy: Just download the Walk15 app, join the “EMW 2026” Challenge, and select Aachen as your city.
