27th Literary Summer: Matinée Dedicated to the Work of Hanns-Josef Ortheil

Hanns-Josef Ortheil, born in Cologne in 1951, is a writer, pianist, and professor of creative writing and cultural journalism at the University of Hildesheim. With nearly 80 publications to his credit, he has been one of the most widely read contemporary German authors for many years. His novels have been translated into more than twenty languages, and his nonfiction works—including historical and contemporary titles as well as city portraits—have also been very well received. In conversation with Alwin Müller-Jerina, the author guides the audience through his entire body of work, highlighting key milestones. A central focus is his autobiographical works, in which he also offers insights into his daily writing routine.
