27th Literary Summer: Stefan Hertmans Reads from *Dius*
Egidius De Blaeser is an art student blessed with enormous talent—but also with a personality that, while not always easy to deal with, is nonetheless fascinating. When he rings his professor Anton’s doorbell and offers him his unconditional friendship, Anton is taken aback. What connects them is their desire to live in a different time—the vastness of the polders, sublime painting, the beauty that is slipping away. Alternating between periods of focused work and long walks, an almost old-fashioned bond of friendship develops between the two men, while their respective lives continue to unfold—not without complications.
