Meeting of the citizens' forum
During the meeting, proposals submitted by citizens will be presented and discussed together with political representatives and officials from the relevant administrative departments. The goal is to facilitate a technical and political exchange on the issues raised and to discuss possible next steps.
The Aachen Citizens’ Forum will meet on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Aachen City Council Chamber. On the agenda are three citizen proposals regarding bicycle traffic and the inclusion of non-binary individuals.
Two citizen motions concern the installation of green arrows for cyclists. One motion calls for a green arrow at the Boxgraben/Krakaustraße/Südstraße intersection, while the other calls for the installation of such green arrows at as many traffic light intersections as possible that lead to streets with bike lanes. The goal is to enable cyclists to make quick and safe right turns on red lights and to speed up bicycle traffic.
The third motion concerns the consideration of non-binary individuals. The petitioner requests clarification on which department within the city administration will be responsible for addressing the concerns of non-binary people in the future.
In addition to these topics, the meeting will also include a question-and-answer session for residents as well as time for further suggestions and complaints.
The Citizens’ Forum is a council committee of the City of Aachen and serves as a platform for dialogue between citizens, politicians, and the administration. Citizens can raise their concerns here and engage directly with the relevant departments.
You are cordially invited to attend the meeting and actively participate!
