Contemporary witness

Henriette Kretz as a guest at the Heinrich Heine Comprehensive School

Lara Roosen, head of the district office in Aachen-Laurensberg, drew an all-round positive conclusion from the visit: "I was there as a listener and, in the broadest sense, of course also as a supporter of such important projects in our district. It was particularly important to me to thank Ms. Kretz personally for her educational work. It was very impressive how many pupils took part in this voluntary offer - and also how interested and attentive they were."

In the library of the comprehensive school, which was filled to capacity, Henriette Kretz, who was born into a Jewish family in Poland on October 26, 1934, talked about her escape from a ghetto, the shooting of her parents and her experiences after the war, among other things.

For the pupils of the comprehensive school, the talk was one of the last and rare opportunities to meet a contemporary witness in person. After Henriette Kretz's talk, the young people asked her many questions, which she answered in detail.
