Overview of the sports facilities

The City of Aachen (Sports Department) manages a total of 49 large sports fields, 16 gymnastics rooms (including martial arts rooms), 65 single gymnasiums, six double and seven triple sports halls as well as four swimming pools and one outdoor pool.

Of the 49 large pitches, 23 have an artificial turf surface, 12 have a natural grass surface and 13 have a turf surface. Two of the large pitches (natural grass and turf pitches) are located in Aachen's Waldstadion, which is intended exclusively for athletics use.

The allocation of usage times for Aachen's sports facilities takes place within the framework of allocations on the basis of the fee regulations for the use of Aachen's sports facilities and swimming pools as well as the transfer and usage regulations of the City of Aachen.

The City of Aachen draws the attention of all users of the municipal sports, gymnastics and exercise halls to the fact that all halls are closed during the Christmas vacations. This also applies to the halls in which the key violence regulation has been introduced. The Christmas vacations are the only vacations during which "key violence halls" cannot be used. On the one hand, this can save high energy costs and, on the other hand, these vacations are used to carry out the annual basic cleaning of the school sports facilities.

A permit is required for the use of a sports facility. Please contact Mr. Helten for approval to use a sports facility in Aachen-Mitte or a sports facility of supra-district importance. For all other permits, please contact the respective district office.

Permission for use will be granted if there is sufficient time available and the conditions of the Transfer and Use Regulations for Sports Facilities of the City of Aachen are met. To ensure that your requirements can be checked, please send your application for sports facilities in Aachen Mitte and those of supra-district importance to the sports administration using the appropriate form (PDF). Applications for the use of a municipal sports facility must be received by the office responsible for the allocation at least three full weeks before the start of the event.

For sporting events that are to be held during the summer, Easter or Christmas vacations, applications must be submitted at least three full weeks before the start of the vacation.

If this deadline is not met, processing cannot be guaranteed.
