Aachen is the westernmost city in Germany and, in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine region, has one of the largest fire departments in NRW with over 1,000 firefighters. The Aachen fire department consists of the professional fire department with 4 stations and the volunteer fire department with 14 fire engines and other units. In addition to firefighting and technical assistance, we also provide rescue services, fire protection at the university hospital, as well as cross-border and thus European assistance in neighboring Belgium and the Netherlands.

With the emergency telefax, people with speech/hearing impairments can send a fax in an emergency and these faxes are treated by the control centers in the same way as an emergency call.
Emergency call app "nora"
With the nora app, you can reach the police, fire department and rescue services quickly and easily in an emergency. nora uses the location function on your mobile device to transmit your exact location to the relevant emergency control center. This makes it easier for emergency services to find you, even if you don't know exactly where you are. You can also use the app to make emergency calls without having to speak.
