Waste education

Teaching environmental awareness is an important part of children's education. Many environmental issues can often be exemplified by the topic of waste. The waste education section of the waste advisory service has been created especially for kindergartens, schools and other educational institutions.

Waste avoidance is regularly addressed in many school projects in Aachen's schools and daycare centers. One such project is the guided tours for pre-school children that are regularly offered on the company premises on Madrider Ring.

Waste prevention cannot start early enough. Even the youngest children should learn to produce as little waste as possible in their everyday lives. That's why first-graders in Aachen are given practical and environmentally friendly lunch boxes every year when they start school.

Guided tours of the farm

Aachener Stadtbetrieb offers guided tours of the company premises.

During this visit, children from pre-school age can gain an insight into the work of waste management and city cleaning in small groups (max. 15 children).

With the help of "Tonne Berta", knowledge about the correct separation of waste is taught in a playful way. In the yard, the children can experience a street sweeper being emptied and see what it has to collect in the city.

The tour lasts around an hour, depending on the age of the children, and takes place on the premises at Madrider Ring 20, 52078 Aachen. As the tours are outdoors, the visits to "Tonne Berta" are offered from April to September. This offer is free of charge for all daycare centers and elementary school in the city of Aachen.

If you are interested in one or more guided tours, please contact us to arrange an exact date.
