From July to September 2020, the Bushof coordination office, together with the Aachen artist Mathes Straetmans, better known by his artist name "Lazy65", carried out an action lasting several weeks on a round house - a former exhaust air system - in the open street space.
The main motif and starting point was the urban environment at the bus station, which the artist transformed into an underwater world without further ado. Imaginatively, a new world developed on the former exhaust air system with a variety of buildings, populated by an equally diverse underwater world in which various characters appear as fish and buses. The work was completed in the so-called "Octobus", which now has a direct view of the bus underpass from line 25. At the same time, the artist and Heidemarie Ernst from the city's bus station coordination office engaged in a dialog with passers-by. The whole range of different feelings of insecurity as well as a wide range of feedback on the artwork and the bus station were expressed and could be discussed "by the way", so to speak. Many people experienced live for the first time how graffiti is created. The discussions could be conducted well with the Corona-related distance. Heidemarie Ernst was delighted with the flexibility of the artist, who even spontaneously incorporated suggestions from viewers into the artwork. The motto: Achieving more together was fulfilled here too!
The transformation of the previously dingy exhaust air system into a colorful underwater world was documented photographically by Stephanie Jünger(www.fotostudio-juenger.de).
