01/2025: Road safety sub-concept in the traffic development plan (VEP)

The traffic development plan (VEP) of the city of Aachen defines the guiding principle for development in the area of traffic. A separate sub-concept is dedicated to traffic safety.

Other frameworks are

• The "Vision Mobility 2050" describes key aspects of mobility in 2050. Objectives, paths and measures for achieving the Vision 2050 are reserved for later steps in the VEP.
• As a key component of the VEP Aachen, the Mobility Strategy 2030 concretizes the Mobility 2050 vision that has already been developed and defines the objectives and strategies. It is followed by concrete action programs to ensure efficient target achievement. Road safety is anchored in it as one of six overall objectives.

Building on the road safety action plan, the road safety sub-concept brings together key tasks and measures to improve road safety. All stakeholders relevant to these issues are involved in its creation. This ensures knowledge and commitment.

Both objective data(police accident statistics) and subjective/perceived feedback are used as indicators to measure the development of road safety.
