Frequently asked questions
Is it enough if I only have the characteristics "G" and "B" and a high degree of disability? +
No, that alone is not enough. It is also important to know exactly what your degree of disability is. You must belong to one of the special groups defined in the law.
How is it checked whether I can get a parking permit?
The road traffic authority asks the pension office of the StädteRegion Aachen and the medical service there for help. They take a close look at your files.
Should I specify the type of ID card I am applying for?
Yes, you can. You can also simply apply for a "parking permit". Based on your documents, we will check which parking permit you are eligible for.
What happens if my state of health changes?
If your disability or restrictions have worsened since the last decision, it may make sense to first apply to the pension office for a new determination of a higher degree of disability or an additional mark. This can increase your chances of obtaining a parking permit.
Can others use the parking permit?
The badges are not transferable, but can be used by an accompanying person who is driving the person with a severe disability.
If the person with a disability is not in the car, the badge may not be used. However, if you are on your way to pick up the person with a disability, it may be used. Can parents with children with severe disabilities apply for a parking permit?
Yes, parents of children with severe disabilities can apply for a severely disabled parking permit. The steps are the same (see above).
How can I extend/renew my ID card?
To renew or extend your ID card, you must follow the same steps as when applying for a new one.
