Lothringerstraße cycle lane

Lothringerstraße cycle route opened (14.07.2021)

Lothringerstraße is the first cycle lane in Aachen to be painted completely red over a length of approx. 200 m on the Brand and Eilendorf priority cycle routes.

Lothringerstraße is also part of the premium footpath 3 from Münsterplatz in the city center to the Frankenberger Park green space. The joint alignment of the cycle priority route and the premium footpath in Lothringerstraße was agreed by establishing a cycle lane (in accordance with the Aachen standard) in combination with the implementation of a wide, green footpath.

The Mobility Committee passed the corresponding implementation resolution on 12.09.2019. The work was carried out following extensive new sewer construction and renovation work in the road and was completed at the end of 2020. The red epoxy resin surface coating of the cycle lane was applied in summer 2021, thus fulfilling goal 4 of the cycling decision adopted by Aachen City Council to color all new cycling facilities in Aachen red. The premium footpath and Aachen's first red cycle lane were officially opened on July 14.
