Eilendorf priority cycle route

The RVR Eilendorf connects the Eilendorf district with the city center over a distance of 6.8 km. The start/finish point of the route is the train station in Eilendorf. From there, the RVR runs mostly along cycle paths, past the district office in Eilendorf to the Vennbahnweg, an independently managed shared footpath and cycle path through the countryside.

The Eilendorf and Campus Melaten priority cycle routes represent the pilot route of the priority cycle network in Aachen. Funding from the National Climate Protection Initiative under the title "Rad-Vorrang-Route Aachen 1" was used for key measures on these two routes and to make the "priority cycle route" concept visible.

In 2020, Kleebachstraße in Eilendorf was the first street to be implemented in accordance with Aachen's standards for the design of cycle streets.

Crossing the main motor vehicle road Von-Coels-Straße is possible via a separate cycle signal.

At the end of the Vennbahnweg (at Rothe Erde station), the route continues along cycle lanes towards the city center. From Bismarckstraße in the Frankenberger Viertel, the RVR Eilendorf runs together with the RVR Brand.

Lothringerstrasse in the Suermond district is the first converted bicycle street whose lane has been completely colored red.

Shortly before reaching the Grabenring (the cycle distribution ring of the priority cycle network) at Elisenbrunnen, the route passes through the Wirichsbongardstraße pedestrian zone. Under the motto "Fair together", cycling is possible here at a reduced speed.
