Water levels / gauges

The water level of surface waters is measured by water gauges. In North Rhine-Westphalia, there are around 500 water gauges whose measurements form the basis for planning and controlling water management systems.

In addition to the pure water level measurement at many gauges, the so-called gauging system also includes additional measurements to determine the discharge.
