Aachen's Demographic Strategy
Demographic change encompasses a wide range of social development processes.
The City of Aachen’s demographic strategy focuses primarily on the analysis of the demographic aging process:
What does this look like specifically in Aachen? How can we meet the needs of the diverse group of “older adults,” each with their own unique needs? What considerations need to be taken into account citywide, and how do the various neighborhoods differ? Above all, however: What recommendations for action are needed to keep pace with social change?
This set of plans is the result of a cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional process and brings together diverse perspectives on the demographic aging process with relevant data sets and expert analyses to provide a comprehensive overview across various areas of action (e.g., social services and community engagement, Housing and Neighborhoods) to arrive at a comprehensive overall picture.
At the end of each chapter, relevant, forward-looking, and sustainable recommendations for action are ultimately derived, which are intended to serve as the basis for integrated planning processes.
