People with disabilities

Around 44,000 people with a recognized disability live in Aachen. In order for these people to be able to participate successfully, the social framework conditions must be designed in such a way that everyone can live a self-determined life. We are constantly faced with major challenges in our everyday lives. We often don't know whether we can get into a building with a wheelchair or rollator without barriers, whether there is a guidance system or a hearing system, or whether we can find a suitable leisure activity. Being well informed helps in every situation.

Control center "People with disabilities"

The "People with disabilities" control center provides information and advice on the options and assistance available to people with disabilities in their specific life situation and, if necessary, refers them to other agencies. Comprehensive information can be found in the brochure "Guide for people with disabilities".

Enabling participation is one of the most important tasks for society. Participation is associated with basic life opportunities such as education and work, but also social encounters, self-realization and recognition.
