Youth Welfare Office Parent Advisory Board

The Aachen City Youth Welfare Office Parents’ Advisory Board (JAEB for short) represents all parents of children attending daycare centers and in home-based childcare within the city of Aachen. This board is elected annually after the start of the new daycare year (August 1). The existence of the JAEB is stipulated in Section 11 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Child Education Act.

The JAEB’s mission is to discuss all issues related to parental involvement in daycare centers and family day care, as well as to facilitate the exchange of information and experiences among its members. The JAEB aims to promote the participation of parents and guardians in decision-making at these facilities.

As part of its overarching responsibilities, the JAEB maintains close contact with the operators of daycare centers and family day care, as well as with the relevant authorities, institutions, and associations, in order to promote the fulfillment of the educational mission of these facilities.
