As a city of the future, Aachen has set out with a large number of stakeholders to become an innovative municipality of civic dialog and to shape the future of the city together with urban society.
Like many German cities, Aachen is undergoing fundamental change. Answers must be found to the pressing issues of our time in terms of inner-city development, mobility, housing, digitalization, climate, education and social justice. As a city of the future, Aachen is sustainable, resilient, oriented towards the common good and suitable for grandchildren.
Politics and administration cannot shape this change alone, but only together with urban society!
Creating clear decisions and compromises in the face of conflicting goals is a necessary task within the administration and for us together as an urban society. It is therefore important to discuss the city's major issues and change processes closely and jointly with the people of Aachen and to communicate decisions and plans transparently to everyone.
Shaping the city of the future together with urban society
The City of Aachen already provides citizens with numerous and diverse participation opportunities and possibilities for dialog. As a rule, these are thematically assigned to the various departments of the city administration.
The central "City of the Future and Citizen Dialogue" department strategically manages these opportunities in order to professionally and centrally manage citizen dialogue on the administrative side and strengthen
cooperation with the urban community.
Our aim is to continuously optimize and (further) develop the various dialogue and participation opportunities offered by the City of Aachen in the interests of Aachen's urban community. In addition, the participation groups should be made more representative.
Citizen participation that goes beyond
purely personal involvement is particularly relevant in this context. We want to offer space for all kinds of ideas, impulses and visions in order to shape Aachen as the city of the future together with you.
The Aachen Citizens' Dialogue
A good dialog with citizens must always take place at eye level and offer everyone the same opportunity to participate. At the same time, ideas must be bundled, stakeholders networked and the scope and limits of participation communicated clearly and transparently to all those involved.
The Aachen Citizens' Dialogue team sees itself as a link, a guide and also a mediator between the administration and urban society.
Our wish and our task is to identify and promote valuable suggestions and potential from citizens, but also from business and science, which can then in turn be incorporated into political decision-making.
In order to be able to receive your concerns, wishes and ideas in the best possible way, the City of Aachen offers all citizens various formats for dialogue and opportunities for participation.
