Youth conference in the borough

A youth conference gives you the chance to share your ideas and suggestions for improvement directly with the city district. It focuses on issues that affect your daily life and your neighborhood.

At the conference, young people from the district come together to formulate ideas and suggestions for improvement: From a relaxed meeting place to good bus connections. The participants then discuss their ideas and concerns directly with those responsible in politics and city administration

Review: District Youth Conference Aachen-Haaren

On June 28, 2025, the first district youth conference took place in Haaren with young people aged 12 and over. Together with the district representatives and employees of the city administration, ideas were exchanged and topics and concerns of young Haaren residents were discussed.

Fresh Ideas for Haaren
Working groups generated many practical and creative suggestions. The main topics discussed were:

• Expanding sports and leisure facilities
• Strengthening the environment, cleanliness and sustainability
• Creating more safety in road traffic
• Design attractive meeting points and places to spend time
• Enabling creative freedom

Results with effect for hair

The results of the conference have a direct impact on the district. The district council and the Haaren district office have decided to implement three key concerns of the young people.

• A shelter for young people as a weatherproof meeting place.
• A height-adjustable basketball hoop in the park at the old cemetery.
• New hammocks for relaxing in the redesigned Haarener Eck.
