“What can Aachen do to address vacant properties?”, “How can Aachen offer all children equal educational opportunities?”, “Renewable energy—how can Aachen [..] become climate-neutral?” These are just three of a total of 24 proposed topics that engaged citizens have submitted via the participation platform for Aachen’s first-of-its-kind Citizens’ Assembly. But not every topic can be discussed there. We want to know: What matters most to the people of Aachen? And for that, we need your vote. Everyone is invited to vote for the issue they consider most pressing from their own perspective. All proposed topics that receive at least 125 supporting votes have a chance of being addressed by the Citizens’ Council. Every vote counts!
Vote without registering, with full accessibility: To ensure that all interested citizens have equal and accessible access, the participation platform can now be used without prior registration. At aachen.de/buerger_innenrat (yellow button: “Vote here”), you’ll find all topics that have already been submitted, along with the option to vote. Until March 10, 2023, all residents of the city of Aachen aged 16 and older have the opportunity to cast their vote for a topic that is important to them.
No internet access? No problem! The coordinating office in the Department of Citizen Dialogue and Administrative Management is available in person or by phone: Johannes-Paul-II-Straße 1, 52062 Aachen, Tel.: 0241 432-7309.
The Citizens’ Council is an important tool for actively involving citizens in political processes and fostering a participatory urban society.
