Municipal nursery schools and schools are all informed about climate change and energy savings. They are trained in special workshops for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. In small groups they analyse the energy consumption of the school.Energy and environmental consultant help to find potential for energy savings. A variety of information materials was developed. Examples for activities with the children are demonstrated. Consultants help to develop individual measures, both technical and pedagogical nature and to implement them.
The schools and play schools analyse their consumption for heating, electricity, water and waste. They can use the energy monitoring system of the city of Aachen and directly control their success.

Participation is free for all urban nursery schools and schools. The project is supported by the Federal Environment Ministry of Germany.
Participation leads to the award as climate kindergarten or climate school and to benefit from energy savings achieved. Attractive prizes will be awarded for exemplary actions and educational projects.
