Anniversary Archimedean sandbox

Just in time for the summer vacations, Aachen's largest sandpit will be set up again. 150 tons of the finest play sand will then be distributed in the huge wooden structure on the Katschhof by employees of Aachen's municipal services.

During the entire campaign period, the sandpit will also be looked after by municipal employees, including playground inspectors who will rake the sand every morning and check for contamination. Once the Archimedean sandpit has been dismantled, the sand will be stored and distributed to playgrounds around the city throughout the year.

June 26 - August 19: Archimedean sandbox

July 14 to August 1: Archimedean Workshop

Since 2016, 150 tons of sand have been poured onto the historic Katschhof courtyard between the cathedral and the town hall every summer. Young and old can then dig, dig and chill out on deckchairs to their heart's content.
