Identity card

The new ID card
is a plastic card.
There is a photo of you on the card.
And your personal details are on the card.

For example

• Your name
• Your birthday
• Your address
• how tall you are.

What's new with the ID card

A computer
can also read the ID card.
Because your data is stored at
in the ID card.
This means you can also use the ID card on the Internet.

You need a special photo for the ID card
:
the biometric passport photo.
This is what the photo must look like:

• Your mouth must be closed.
• You must be able to see your eyes clearly.
  The glasses must not be reflective.

You can bring a photo on paper.

Attention:
You can use the photo

• do not send as e-mail
• not on a USB stick.

You can also take the photo at the Citizen Service Center.
There is a device for this in every Citizen Service Center.
We call the device a biometric terminal.

You can take a biometric photo with this device.
The photo costs €4.50.

Attention:

• The photo is not printed on paper.
• You can only use the photo
  for the ID card.

If you want to take the photo at the Citizens' Service:
Come to the appointment a little earlier.
Then you will have enough time for the photo.

What you have to pay for your ID card:
If you live in Aachen

• You are under 24 years old.
  Then you pay 22.80 euros
  for the ID card.
• You are 24 years old or older.
  Then you pay 37.00 euros
  for the ID card.

If you live in Belgium or the Netherlands

• You are under 24 years old.
  Then you pay 52.80 euros
  for the ID card.
• You are 24 years old or older.
  Then you pay 67.00 euros
  for the ID card.

How can you pay?

Please note:
You must always pay the money immediately
when you apply.
You can

• pay cash
• pay by EC card.

The card is valid for persons
up to 23 years: for 6 years
from 24 years: for 10 years

Your ID card is no longer valid:
You can then obtain a special ID card from us.
This ID card is also called a temporary ID card.
You must also apply for this ID cardat the Citizens' Service
.
The temporary ID card does not have any online functions.
You can then take this ID card with you immediately.
It is valid for up to 3 months and costs 10 euros.

You live in Aachen

What you need to bring to the appointment

• Your old identity card or
  another valid form of identification
• a biometric passport photo
• If you are younger than 16 years
  we need the birth certificate
  and you must come with your parents

  Or with your legal representative.
  So with a person
  who has the responsibility for you.

if you want to use the ID card on the Internet.

Please bring with you

• Your old identity card or another form of ID

• the temporary identity card

Is this your first ID card?
Then of course you can't.

If you are unable to collect the ID card yourself , send someone else to collect it.
To do this, the person needs awritten authorization from you
