Registration certificate

You need a registration certificate if

• you are German but do not have an identity card.
• you have a foreign passport and live in Aachen.

You need the registration certificate for many things.
For example, if you want to open an account at the bank.

A simple registration certificate is usually sufficient.
The simple registration certificate
contains a lot of personal data.

For example

• Your family name
• Your birth name
• If you are married and now have a different name.
• Your first name
• the date of birth
• the place of birth
• Your address.

Sometimes you need a registration certificate with more data.
This is called an extended registration certificate.

In this registration certificate, for example, you can read

• whether you are married
• whether you are German or from another country
• an address where you used to live.

Attention:
You must also submit an application for
the extended registration certificate
.
In the application you must write
which data you need.

Each registration certificate costs 9 euros.

Attention:
There is one exception.
If you need the registration certificate for your pension:
Then the registration certificate costs nothing.
Please bring proof of pension insurance with you.

You can submit the application in person
at the Citizens' Service.
It is best to go to the Citizens' Service yourself.

Please make an appointment in advance.

What you need to bring to the appointment

Please bring

• Your identity card or
• Your passport
• 9 euros in cash or an EC card

Please note:
You must pay for the registration certificate
at the Citizens' Service.
You can then usually take the registration certificate
with you immediately.

Another person makes the application for you

The person must bring this with them:

• Your identity card or passport
• 9 euros in cash or an EC card
• your own identity card or passport
• Permission from you.
  This must state
  that the person may submit the application on your behalf.
  This is also known as a power of attorney.

Then you will always receive a simple registration certificate.

• Enclose a copy of your
  identity card or passport
  in the letter.
• Transfer 9 euros to us beforehand.

new ID card.

We will then debit 9 euros from your account.

registration certificate.
