Testimony to the Baroque era - Kersten's Pavilion
The Kersten Pavilion is a testimony to the late Baroque period by Johann-Joseph Couven, built in 1737 for the master dyer Mantels on the Annuntiatenbach, from where it was relocated to the Lousberg in 1907.
Until the Second World War, the pavilion was a "Maison de Plaisance" - a branch of the Couven Museum that still has its original furnishings. Today, parts of the interior can be found in the Couven Museum.
The pavilion is also the exhibition venue for the "Allianzen" photography festival of the Aachen city region (24 August to 21 September). The aim of this biennial is to bring regional players into an exciting dialog with international greats of photography by focusing on site-specific themes of the respective venues through the works presented.
