St. Germanus in Haaren - Valuable history
There is evidence of the first church building in Haaren as early as 1350. However, the parish of St. Germanus only celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2023. Around 1704, the 14th century church was extended. However, this was then too small again at the end of the 19th century, so a new building was erected between 1889 and 1892 to replace the old church.
After the destruction of the Second World War, the first service was celebrated in the church building in 1948, but the reconstruction work was not completed until 1957 with the consecration of the new organ.
The oldest work of art still in the church today is the baptismal font from 1598.
