Jewish cemetery

Jewish cemetery
The more than 200-year history of the Jewish cemetery reflects the development of Aachen's synagogue community from its beginnings to the present day. The cemetery with its buildings and gravestones survived the National Socialist era relatively unscathed and is therefore an irreplaceable testimony to Aachen's historiography.
The 25 display boards designed by students at Aachen University of Applied Sciences show biographical stories as well as information about the cemetery, the graves and the architecture. In the former caretaker's house at the cemetery, new aspects of Aachen's city history are conveyed using previously little-known archival documents. The aim of the exhibition is to draw attention to the valuable building fabric of the cemetery and to initiate discussions about the future use of the buildings.
