Aachen Cathedral - Valuables in the mirror of research
Presentation of an overview model "Aachen Cathedral at the time of Charles V (1500-1558)"
Aachen Cathedral has changed its appearance several times over the centuries since it was built around 800. Changes in use and external influences are reflected in the architecture.
"The building inscriptions of Aachen Cathedral"
Several inscriptions from the Carolingian period are mentioned for Aachen Cathedral and are often reproduced in full. Inscriptions in the cathedral are also known from later years, some of which are still preserved, for example in the vestibule above the tomb of the knight Chorus and in the Chapel of St. Nicholas. The lecture looks at these inscriptions (originally in Latin) and provides translations and interpretations.
