Music for dancing - Swing

Dance workshop followed by live music in the foyer

We invite you to a swing event on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 18:00 - 21:30. Admission is from 17:30 via the main entrance at Reichsweg 30.

The swing workshop with Swingin' Aachen e.V. offers all those interested in dancing (aged 14 and over) the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of swing. Swingin' Aachen consists of a group of swing enthusiasts who want to spread the joy of swing music and swing dancing in Aachen and the surrounding area. See for yourself during a one-hour dance workshop where you can learn simple Lindy Hop dance steps. The ballroom dance became popular in the USA in the 1930s and has its roots in the Charleston and tap dancing, among others. Lindy Hop is still very popular today! No previous experience is required for our dance workshop and it is also possible to take part without a dance partner.

Afterwards, you are invited to dance and party freely for two hours to the live music of the band SwingHeap. The Cologne-based band consists of five talented musicians and plays swing and jazz music for Lindy Hop dancers. In the meantime, they have established themselves through their performances in many trendy Cologne bars and ballrooms and as the house band in the "Barinton" for regular swing break parties. They dispense with clichéd outfits of the 30s, remain true to their own authentic style and show what really matters: the music. The line-up of the band corresponds to that of a swing or bebop quintet: guitar, trumpet, double bass, drums and saxophone.

Their music offers the ideal opportunity to use the newly learned dance moves directly after the dance workshop. Free non-alcoholic drinks are provided to cool you down.
