"The lure of authoritarianism". Is the liberal value and world order at an end?

It can be seen almost daily in the media how autocrats and populists are poisoning our democracy, wanting to impose their will on the world and how the "patriots for Europe" are proclaiming a new reconquista. The aim is to describe and explain this autocratic threat in its various forms. Are there parallels with the decline of the Weimar period or the end of the late Roman Republic? Are the experiences of loss and the will to destroy signs of our modern world? Does populist language and rhetoric help to suggest simple explanations and answers? Are there suitable forms and possibilities of resistance? For Prof. Max Kerner, this is nothing less than a question of the survival of our liberal culture and society: "In our chaotic times, we need not only the power of enlightened reason, but also committed outrage!"
