  • Welcome to Eilendorf!

    Dear fellow citizens,

Dear visitors to the Eilendorf district website, I would like to welcome you to our district website and thank you for your interest.
Eilendorf was an independent municipality until 1972 and was then incorporated into the city of Aachen as part of the municipal reorganization and has been one of Aachen's seven districts ever since. With its good infrastructure and short distances to Aachen's city centre, Eilendorf is a lively district.
Politics, the district administration and the associations jointly represent local interests and promote the economic, social and cultural development of Eilendorf.
The Eilendorf IG Handel, Handwerk und Gewerbe stands for the development of a good and local supply. This is of particular importance for the people who live here in order to be able to obtain the things they need on a daily basis within a short distance.
The Eilendorf-Süd industrial estate around Neuenhofstrasse, Kaubendenstrasse, Kellerhausstrasse and Debyestrasse is home to important employers and internationally active companies. Many large companies have settled south of the Vennbahnweg. The Aachen car mile with numerous car dealerships is also located here.
You can also discover nature in Eilendorf and experience pure recreation on the banks of streams, meadow paths and, of course, on the Wolfsberg. This is called "Knopp" or "God's blessing" by the people of Eilendorf and, at 230 m above sea level, offers a fantastic view. An attractive area with a high quality of stay has been created at the newly designed Nirmer Platz.
The borough is also setting the tone in e-mobility with Velo-City stations and e-charging points. At the same time, the expansion of the priority cycle route from Eilendorf to Aachen city center is strengthening climate-friendly transport. The district also has a train station.
The rebuilt and modernized district office is the point of contact for everyone living here. Your district office will help you quickly and unbureaucratically with many everyday issues. Take a look around.

    Best regards
    Elke Eschweiler

Apollonia Chapel Eilendorf is a Roman Catholic place of worship in the "Oberdorf" of Aachen's Eilendorf district. It was built in 1774 and is the only one of five chapels in the then independent district of Eilendorf to have survived, making it the oldest sacred building in the village. The entire chapel complex has been a listed building since the 1980s and has been looked after by the "Förderverein zum Erhalt der Apollonia-Kapelle e. V." since 2010.

St. Apollonia is a church building of the Roman Catholic Church in Eilendorf. On January 29, 1958, the Aachen architect Peter Salm was commissioned to plan this new church. Since 2010, St. Apollonia and three other parishes have formed the new overall parish of St. Severin.

St. Severin is a Catholic church built in 1864. The surrounding cemetery has been used since around 1870. In 1988, St. Severin was added to the city of Aachen's list of monuments. Since 2010, St. Severin and three other former parishes have formed the new overall parish of St. Severin.

Versöhnungskirche is a Protestant church in Aachen-Eilendorf. It forms the parish district of the Church of Reconciliation within the Protestant parish of Aachen. The foundation stone was laid in 1969.

  • The story

Eilendorf was first mentioned in documents from the imperial abbey of Kornelimünster in 1238. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that Eilendorf was undoubtedly located on the Roman road that led from Maastricht to Aachen and from there via Eilendorf to Stolberg, Gressenich and Gürzenich. A document also shows that Eilendorf has been an independent parish since 1293.

  • The coat of arms

It is vertically divided into two parts and shows two crossed mining tools on a blue background on its left (heraldically right) side and a stylized galmei violet below, while the right (heraldically left) side shows a cornelian horn on a red background. The cornelian horn refers to the former affiliation of Eilendorf to the imperial abbey of Kornelimünster, while the mining tools and the galmei violet refer to the many years of mining in Eilendorf.

Aristocratic coats of arms have been known since the Crusades, bourgeois and municipal coats of arms since the 13th century. At this time, municipalities usually did not have coats of arms as they were often dependent on sovereigns or larger cities.

The Eilendorf coat of arms was originally designed by heraldist Hermann Jungbluth and dates back to 1949.
