  • Welcome to Brand!

    Dear fellow citizens,

Dear visitors to the Brand district website,

Peter Tillmanns, District Mayor of Brand, © City of AachenI would like to welcome you to our district website and thank you for your interest. Brand was an independent municipality until 1972, when it became part of the city of Aachen as part of the municipal reorganization. To this day, the people of Brand have retained much of their identity. This is mainly due to the fact that the residents, and therefore families in particular, feel very much at home here.

Nestled in a beautiful and varied landscape, the district of Brand offers its more than 17,000 residents an excellent infrastructure that includes schools, kindergartens, sports facilities and good shopping opportunities as well as its own indoor swimming pool.

It is therefore no wonder that the people of Brand have a very intensive club life that covers practically all interests. Voluntary work is very important here and shapes the community spirit. This is best described by the much-quoted term "Brander Wir-Gefühls" (Brander sense of unity). Politicians, the district administration and the associations, brought together by the Bürgerverein Brand e.V., jointly represent local interests and promote Brand's economic, social and cultural development.

Visible evidence of this development can be seen in the conversion of Trierer Straße and Marktstraße as well as the transformation of the former Camp Pirotte military site into a Brand business park, which offers small and medium-sized businesses an attractive location. The planned conversion of the Brand market will give Brand a new attraction in the coming year.

Why not visit us and see the quality of life in Brand for yourself, for example on a cycle tour along the Vennbahn route or by visiting the weekly market on the market square every Tuesday and Saturday morning.

    Best regards

    Peter Tillmanns
    District Mayor

  • Unique

With a well-developed range of retail and local amenities, the Brand district offers its residents a family-friendly infrastructure with kindergartens, schools, playgrounds and sports grounds, clubs and its own indoor swimming pool.

As the gateway to the Eifel, Trierer Straße also connects the southern areas of the city region with Aachen city center. In addition, the Aachen-Brand junction provides an almost optimal connection to the trunk road network (A 44 / E 40). The various districts of the neighboring town of Stolberg are easily accessible via the state and district roads.

At the same time, Brand is the green district with the largest of Aachen's nature reserves, the Brander Wald, and offers excellent local recreational opportunities in a natural environment.

The strong cohesion of the more than 17,000 inhabitants is unique, many of whom actively participate in local club life. The Bürgerverein Brand e.V. coordinates and strengthens the work of the association, but also carries out its own tasks. Did you know, for example, that it is thanks to this citizens' association that the bronze bull, Brand's landmark, has found its place in the middle of the market square?

  • Local supply and trade

As a medium-sized center, Brand has an extremely good range of local amenities. In addition to the usual range offered by the large discount stores, many other items such as clothing and printed products are also available. With more than 150 retail outlets, including many specialist stores, a wide-ranging shopping and service center has been established here.

The infrastructure also includes a supermarket with extensive sales space in the converted former Aachen streetcar depot on Freunder Landstraße, a large DIY store on Debyestraße and various building materials dealers who even cover professional needs. Brand's craft businesses from a wide range of sectors are well positioned and not only supply their own district with their services. In the newly developed Brand business park, more companies will settle and increase the range of services on offer.

    Weekly market in Brand
The weekly market takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays at the Brand market (between Hochstraße and Marktstraße) from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm.
The market is also very popular with residents of the surrounding districts due to the wide range of fresh produce on offer. Shopping can be rounded off with a visit to the surrounding stores.
If you would like to be informed of any changes to the dates, please subscribe to the weekly market newsletter. The newsletter also informs you about the announcements of stalls.

  • Urban development

With a population of just under 17,000 and rising, an attractive location in the Eifel foothills and a retail sector that is important for the entire south of Aachen, Brand is of great significance for the entire city of Aachen. At the same time, a lot is happening in Brand: Trierer Strasse has been rebuilt, the market square is to be redesigned, houses and much more are being built in the Brander Feld area and other residential areas.

Against this backdrop, an urban development framework plan for the entire district was drawn up in 2008 with the intensive involvement of citizens and Brandenburg stakeholders. Parts of the plan have already been initiated and further projects will follow.
