Count von Nellessen Foundation

The purpose of the foundation is to award scholarships for the duration of one financial year each to promote vocational training to a maximum of 10 boys and 10 girls per year, aged between 14 and 21, who are in need, of the Christian denomination and live in the city of Aachen.


Background

In his will, Count Carl von Nellessen, who died in 1871, bequeathed a sum of 100,000 Thaler Prussian Courant to the city of Aachen's Commission for the Administration of the Poor to establish a foundation. Part of this donation was made to support young people in the form of scholarships. The City of Aachen is the sponsor of the foundation and manages the foundation's assets as special assets in trust in accordance with the applicable provisions of municipal law.
