Curriculum vitae
Thomas Hissel was born on August 2, 1977 in Aachen and has been Alderman for Housing, Social Affairs and Economy since June 2024. After graduating from high school in 1997, he studied political science, economics and sociology at RWTH Aachen University with a guest semester at the Université Pantheon-Assas in Paris. From 2007 to 2016, he worked for the City of Aachen in various positions, including as an advisor to the Lord Mayor and, from 2010, in the department for "Economic Development / European Affairs" as Head of Department and Deputy Head of Department.
In 2015, Thomas Hissel was elected First Alderman and City Treasurer of the City of Düren. In this role, he was responsible for the Office of Finance, the Main Office, the Social Welfare Office and the Economy and Investment Management departments, among others. He was also Managing Director of the municipal business development company WIN.DN GmbH and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Dürener Bauverein AG.
Thomas Hissel is married and has 3 children.
