Dr. Markus Kremer was born in Werl in 1973. After graduating from high school in 1992, he completed an apprenticeship as a Diplom-Verwaltungswirt (FH) with the city of Menden. He later studied law at the Ruhr University in Bochum and the Westfälische Wilhelms University in Münster and completed his doctorate in 2004 on a topic of municipal law. His professional career took him from Menden via Drensteinfurt and Gütersloh to Aachen, where he was unanimously elected Alderman for Personnel, Organization, Municipal Operations, Fire Service and Environment on 27.01.2016.

On 08.11.23, he was unanimously re-elected as Deputy for Human Resources, Fire Service and Sport. Around 1400 employees currently work in this department.

Markus Kremer is married and has 2 children. In his free time, he enjoys doing sport.
