Welcome to the Forst district!
Our district stretches to the right and left of Trierer Straße, from the Rothe Erde train station to the A44 highway and consists of various sub-areas that could not be more different: Altforst, Unterforst, Schönforst, Forster Linde and Driescher Hof.
Forst can look back on a long history steeped in tradition. Formerly part of the Duchy of Jülich, Forst became an independent municipality in 1815 and was incorporated into the city of Aachen in 1906.
A striking landmark of the district is the Forster Linde, which gives its name to the area in which it is located and still symbolizes the deep roots of the district with its history. Today, the Forster lime tree can be found in the leitmotif "We are growing together" and stands for the growing together of the people in Forst.

The aim is to make the district more attractive and liveable in the future and to strengthen cohesion between the people who live here. To this end, the "district perspective" was developed together with the planning office plan-lokal from Dortmund, residents and stakeholders from Forst as well as politicians. This contains ideas and visions that are needed to make Forst fit for the future. Some measures and project ideas have already been initiated and are already being implemented.
The district is diverse and colorful, just like the almost 23,000 residents who live in it. With so many people, it is clear that the needs are also different. Some people have lived here for generations, others have just moved here. Some need support, others would like to offer their help. Senior citizens and children, single parents and large families live here. What our district lacks are meeting places in the sub-areas that promote identity and cohesion. One of the aims of our commitment in Forst in the coming years is therefore to promote encounters and bring people together, in keeping with the landmark of our district, the almost 1000-year-old Forster Linde tree: "WE'RE GROWING TOGETHER!"
