The village of Richterich in the northernmost district of Aachen is an attractive place to live, especially for families with children, due to its proximity to the countryside and good transport links. On the northern edge of the village, in the "Richtericher Dell", is the last large residential building reserve in the city of Aachen. These areas, which are currently used for agriculture and cover around 35 hectares, are to be developed into residential areas in accordance with the regional plan and land use plan.
A concept for a residential expansion with 2,500 to 3,000 new residents was drawn up back in 2004. However, changing requirements in terms of housing, climate protection, mobility and soil protection make it necessary to revise the plans.

On 4.11.2021, the planning committee confirmed the administration's decision to realign the framework planning from 2004. The aim is to develop a planning concept that enables living under the new challenges and takes greater account of developments in the entire district. The first step towards this was the launch of a model process - Richterich Perspective - in 2022.
Several participatory events were held in this context, most recently a public event that took place on January 30, 2024 in the Peter-Schwarzenberg-Halle, where many interested parties from the district actively took part in the process.
The -Perspective Richterich- brings together the known and current, but also future measures and creates an overall strategy for Richterich. It brings together topics such as urban development, social infrastructure, mobility and open spaces and forms the basis for the sustainable development of Richterich.
You can find more information on the participation process, the guiding principles and projects in the "Perspektive Richterich" documentation, which you can find in the right-hand column. You will also find the content of the political consultations there.
