The Planning Committee (PLA) has decided to carry out early public participation in accordance with Section 3 (1) of the German Building Code. Consultation date: PLA: 10.02.2022

Explanations on planning

The following urban development objectives are to be achieved with the planning:

  • Securing the Westpark as a green and recreational area
  • Keeping the park as free as possible from development
  • Construction of a new building with a maximum of two storeys on the same plot in a loosened, subdivided form for a four-group daycare center and AWO office on Gartenstraße
  • Closing the edge of the block on the corner of Lochnerstrasse and Gartenstrasse with multi-storey residential development
  • Consideration of the climatic function of the Westpark.

The daycare center at Lochnerstrasse 60 will no longer be needed once the new daycare center in Franzstrasse is completed. Due to its location in Aachen's city center with all the necessary infrastructure facilities, a residential development on Lochnerstrasse makes sense from an urban planning perspective, particularly due to the high demand for living space in the city center. The aim of the planning is to create urgently needed living space in a central location, but taking into account the need for different apartment sizes. Based on the specifications for the planning on the neighboring property on Lochnerstrasse, a 10 m wide strip along the property boundary is also to be kept free of development on the municipal property for climate protection reasons. This also serves to protect the existing trees on Lochnerstrasse.

Note on public interpretation:

In accordance with Section 3 (2) sentence 2, it is pointed out that comments may be submitted during the exhibition period, that comments not submitted in due time may be disregarded in the resolution on the development plan and that an application pursuant to Section 47 of the Administrative Court Code is inadmissible if it asserts objections that were not asserted by the applicant during the exhibition or were asserted late but could have been asserted.
