Rescue points
A system of rescue points has been created in the Aachen forest to increase safety in the forest.
In the past, the proximity to the border meant that people seeking help in an emergency by dialing the familiar "112" often ended up at the rescue control centers in Verviers or Maastricht. In addition, reception in the forest is not guaranteed due to inadequate network coverage. And there is a third point: people who want to call for help in an emergency cannot tell exactly where they are, especially in the forest.
These were all reasons for the construction of the so-called "Forest Rescue Chain", whose 43 points increase safety in the forest during walks and excursions. Green and white signs can be found at prominent points: This is where telephone contact is guaranteed, this is where you can find the telephone number - and this is also where people in need of help can be found quickly!
The rescue points are shown as red dots on the maps. If you frequently go on excursions or want to feel safer in the event of an accident, you can inform yourself beforehand!
