Speed checks
Excessive speed is very often the cause of accidents on Aachen's roads. For this reason, the Department of Safety and Order FB 32/110 is regularly out and about with mobile measuring devices to check speeds at particularly dangerous spots.
Unlike monitoring by the police, municipal traffic monitoring of moving traffic is subject to strict legal requirements under Section 48 of the Regulatory Authorities Act, which essentially only permits monitoring at "danger spots".
The city carries out speed checks in the urban area on the basis of these guidelines and in close cooperation with the road traffic authorities and the police as part of traffic accident prevention.
As citizens of our city, you too can make a contribution to road safety. From your local knowledge, you know exactly where problems exist.
Let us know where you think appropriate monitoring measures are necessary. However, please bear in mind that, as mentioned at the beginning, urban traffic monitoring is subject to very strict legal requirements, unlike the work of the police.
We will take up your suggestions and check whether they can be implemented.
